Following the last promotion place being decided on Mon 26th May I tendered my resignation although I agreed to fulfill the last remaining fixtures.
My 3 year plan was to take Dalry from the bottom of the league to promotion but having missed out for the 2nd succesive year I think it is time for a new face at the helm.
There have been significant improvements on and off the field over the last 3 years but I was unable to bring in the necessary quality to advance to the next level. Its not been easy when you consider that teams such as Irvine Meadow and Kilbirnie had fallen into the District League, and it was always going to be difficult competing financially agianst the big boys.
This year 2 of last years relegated teams go bac up and to be fair these clubs have better pedigree to complete at that level.
I have suspected for some time that we would just not be good enough but have to thank the players for their best endevours in taking it to the last league games and to giving us some decent cup runs.
We have been unfortunate with fixture pile up and injuries and work comitments to key players and some of this years signings have been disappointing but reflectin on this years campaign we have dropped critical points due tio indiscipline which is surprising as we are anything but aggresive from the side of the park. In the main they have been silly! 7 red cards.!!!
I would like to thank Billy Rodgers who has been with me since we embarked in this journey and to Bobby Telford, Robert Latta , Jim Taggart and Aiden O'Neill who have all assisted Billy and I over the period.
I dont want to see the hard work undone so I will work with the club through the transition.
The club have very few sponsors and really need more financial support from the local community. Money doesnt guarantee success but it gives you a greater oportunity and invariably those that have it prosper.
I feel the committee should do their utmost to engage more businessmen so the aspects of running a business can be mirrored at the club.
I've spoke to 3 - 4 individuals who may be interested in the position and will assist the comittee although the post is likely to be advertised.
I would ask the support to try and understand the constraints and get behind the players that are selected.
Our Management team will now split up for a variety of reasons . It is hard to imagine that I will not remain in the game at some level but we will see what happens over the next few months.
Finally I would like to than the committee for giving me the chance to manage Dalry and thank Bill Daly ( Secretary ) in particular for all his hard work. I wish Dalry every success in appoining a new manager and hope the committee understand my decission and react to the task ahead.
