Not for the first time this season, Dalry more than held their own for 90 minutes, and yet, again, failed to take any points.

 

The game was switched to Girvan due to the ongoing problems at Merksworth.

Despte such a long lay off Dalry started well, and early pressure in particular from Duncan playing wide right, caused problems for the Girvan defence.

 

The first real chance of the game came on 15 minutes when a ball over the top was collected by Sanderson, and his shot was touched for a corner by the fingertips of keeper Leavy, who again made a good save from the resulting corner.

It took until 22 minutes for Girvan to threaten the goal, when from a free kick 30 yards out, Biggart tried to catch out Rankine at the near post, but the keeper was alert and saved well.

However, gainst the rn of play, and with their first chance from open play, Girvan took the lead. Hay was slack with a clearance and Gilmour pounced to score from 20 yards with a low shot.

It could have been worse for Dalry on 25 minutes when after a neat passing move, Wallace shot across goal and just wide of the far post.

Afer that scare, Dalry dominated the emaider of the half.

Bell had a 30m yard shot saved.

Canning made a run into the box on the left and looked to set up Strain, but his pass was just behind his teammate.

Then it was Duncan, this time on the right hand side of the box who crossed low, and the flick from Sanderson was saved.

Inside the last 5 minutes of the half, firstly a Potts shot ended on the roof of the net, then from a free kick, Bell met the cross with a header, and once again the ball wason on the roof of the net.

 

Into the second half and a Hay shot come cross was saved.

Wallace sent a volley wide as Girvan looed dangerous.

Then a Canning chip was saved.

On 58 minutes Dalry looked to have escaped when a cross came back off the crossbar, but seconds later the ball was crossed in low from the right and in a scramble of bodies it was bundled home to make it two nil to Girvan.

Dalry were still pressing forward at every chance and a canning shot from 30 yards went over, then a cross to the near post was met by Potts, but his shot was wide.

Dalry made a spate of subs within a 1o minute period, with Fleeting, O'Malley and McCormack coming on for Strain, Canning and Duncan.

On 75 minutes it was almost game over when a Girvan shot cracked back off the post.

But within two minutes of this it was game on when Dalry pulled one back.

Dalry were forward in numbers and a cross from the left saw a queue of players waiting, where Hay headed into the net and make it 1 - 2.

In response just 6 seconds later Girvan should have scored when Gilmour looked to have the goal at his mercy but headed back across goal and wide of the post.

 

Dalry threw everything into atack to tray and get something out of the game.

In a frantic finish, a Fleeting header at the back post went over, the same player had a shot which the keeper only just got fingertips to, and had to scramble to smother the rebound, and then a Sanderson, cross come shot was headed off the line.

 

After so long without a game, Dalry were still full of running at the end, but once again had nothing to show for the skill and effort
